About Canmetry
What Canmetry does, who it serves, how local and optional cloud workflows differ, and where its boundaries are.

What is Canmetry? Canmetry is a browser-based viewer for recorded CAN and CAN FD logs. Open a supported log to inspect raw frames; add a matching DBC to decode and plot named signals.
Built for recorded bus data
Canmetry helps diagnostics, validation and calibration teams review a recording without installing a desktop analysis tool. The workbench opens Vector BLF, ASAM MF4, ASC, CSV and candump .log files. A log can be up to 150 MiB in the local workbench. You can filter frames, map DBC files to channels, plot decoded signals and export results. A DBC is needed for named physical signals, but not for inspecting raw frames.
Start with the browser workbench, open a BLF recording, or use the BLF to MAT converter when you need decoded data in another tool. Format support has boundaries; a file outside the supported CAN logging structures may not open.
Local first, with optional cloud actions
Opening a local log and DBC reads and decodes those files in your browser. That action does not upload their contents. If you sign in and save a cloud project, its analysis settings and related metadata are sent to the service. Uploading log or DBC bytes to cloud storage requires a separate choice. When you use the AI assistant, your message and limited analysis context are sent to the service and AI provider. The privacy policy explains these data flows in detail.
Where the workbench ends
Canmetry focuses on reviewing recorded files. The current browser workbench does not capture live traffic through a CAN interface, transmit frames, simulate ECUs or run HIL tests. If your task requires those capabilities, use equipment and software built for live measurement and test workflows. The offline analysis guide explains this boundary.
