Terms of Service
The rules for using the workbench, your account and paid plans.
Last updated:
The short version. Use the Service for lawful engineering work. Your files remain yours. The decoding is a tool to help you, not a certified measurement: verify results before relying on them for safety-critical or production decisions.
Agreement
By using Canmetry (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
The Service lets you open CAN and CAN FD log files (such as BLF, MF4, ASC, CSV and Vector ASCII), decode them with DBC files, and inspect frames and signals in your browser. Some features, such as cloud projects and the AI assistant, require an account. Features marked "Coming soon" are not yet available and may change before release.
Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, to create an account.
Your content
Files, projects and messages you provide ("Your Content") remain yours. Files you only open in the workbench are processed in your browser and never reach us. For content you choose to store with us, such as cloud projects, you grant us a limited licence to host, copy and process it only as needed to run the Service for you. We do not claim ownership of Your Content.
You are responsible for having the right to use Your Content, including any DBC files, logs or data that belong to your employer, customer or a third party, and for complying with any confidentiality obligations attached to them.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including by uploading data you are not allowed to share;
- attempt to access other users' data, or probe, scan or test the Service's security without our written permission;
- disrupt the Service, overload it, or bypass usage limits or access controls;
- reverse engineer the Service except where the law expressly allows it;
- resell or provide the Service to others as a hosted product without our agreement;
- use the AI assistant to produce unlawful or harmful content.
Decoding results and the AI assistant
Decoding depends on the log, the DBC files and the channel mapping you provide. AI assistant replies are generated automatically and can be wrong. The Service is not certified for safety-critical, homologation or legal-evidence use. You are responsible for checking results before relying on them.
Paid plans
Paid plans are not on sale yet. When they are, the price, billing period and what each plan includes will be shown on the pricing page and at checkout, and the following will apply:
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period you paid for.
- Payments are processed by third-party providers under their own terms.
- Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or where we state otherwise at checkout.
- We may change prices for future periods with at least 30 days' notice.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers for hosting, sign-in, payments, email and AI. Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design and branding, belongs to us and our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks. Sample data shown on the site is synthetic and provided for demonstration only.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will give notice and a chance to export your cloud projects first.
Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the date above and notify you in the Service or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
